    About

    Daniel Mastella, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and hand surgeon at The Hand Center in the greater Hartford area.

    Dr. Mastella completed his undergraduate training at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., before earning his medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a subspecialty fellowship hand surgery at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center in Pennsylvania, where he worked at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Shriners Children's.

    Dr. Mastella is an assistant director of the University of Connecticut Hand Surgery Fellowship Program, an assistant clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Connecticut, and director of the hand surgery service at Hartford Hospital.

    Dr. Mastella shares his knowledge through research presentations and in articles published in industry journals and textbooks. Dr. Mastella is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with the Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand, a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and a former president of the New England Hand Society. He is a founding member of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society and the Hartford Hand Club.
