About
Jacob Vaughn, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery at The Hand Center. He provides surgical and nonsurgical care for a wide range of hand, wrist, and elbow conditions. His professional interests include trauma and reconstructive surgery, peripheral nerve conditions, tendon injuries, arthritis, fractures, and other common and complex upper extremity conditions.
Dr. Vaughn earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus before receiving his medical degree from The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences in Ohio. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, followed by a fellowship in hand surgery at Keck Hospital of USC in Los Angeles, where he gained specialized training in the treatment of hand and upper extremity conditions.
Throughout his medical training, Dr. Vaughn has contributed to orthopaedic research, including published studies related to wrist injuries and fracture care, and has presented his research to his peers. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association for Hand Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and AO Trauma.
Dr. Vaughn takes a collaborative approach to care, working to understand how each patient’s condition affects their daily life and what they hope to regain through treatment. He believes patients should have a clear understanding of their condition, available surgical and nonsurgical treatment options, and what they can expect. By combining his training and experience with each patient’s individual needs and goals, he develops personalized treatment plans focused on restoring function and helping patients return to the activities that are important to them.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Vaughn enjoys hiking and backpacking, skiing, playing recreational sports, and weight lifting. A lifelong Ohio State fan, he also enjoys following college and professional sports as well as exploring new restaurants and breweries.
